Serum (preferred): Blood may be drawn into royal blue-top evacuated tube without additive allow to clot and centrifuge within 4 hours of collection. Pour off plasma/serum into an acid-washed metal-free tube for transportation. Use powderless gloves. Plasma (acceptable): Follow the above instructions except that the sample does not go through the clotting process.
