Preferred Specimen(s) 4 mL whole blood collected in an EDTA (lavender-top) tube Minimum Volume 0.5 mL Collection Instructions Maintain specimen at room temperature. Do not centrifuge. Note: This test is not appropriate for patients less than 6 months old due to interference by Hemoglobin F. In these cases it is suggested that test code 35489 (Hemoglobinopathy Evaluation) be ordered.
