Do not freeze whole blood or samples stored in primary tube. Freshly drawn specimens (whole blood) may be stored at 2-25? C for up to 24 hours prior to centrifugation. Separate plasma from cells within 24 hours of collection by centrifugation. Follow manufacturer's instructions for collection tube handling.
Container Temp Refrigerated (3)
Container Volume 1.000
Test Info Post-Transplant BK Virus DNA Real-Time PCR Plasma - This test is used to determine the presence of BK Virus DNA in patient's specimens. Detection of the virus in these specimens may be indicative of an active infection as PCR detects the presence of the virus and not the host's reaction to the virus. Polyomavirus BK DNA detection in urine or plasma is associated with an increased risk of graft rejection in renal recipients. Quantitative testing may indicate change in risk over time. Reportable range is 500 to 500000000 copies/mL (2.70 to 8.70 Log copies/mL).
Shipping Instructions Transport Container Transport tube Transport Temperature Frozen Specimen Stability Room temperature: Unacceptable Refrigerated: 6 days Frozen: 6 months Reject Criteria Sodium or lithium heparin (green-top) tube; unspun PPT tubes; frozen whole blood
